Clear aligners, an alternative to Invisalign

Angel Aligners: a guide for Point Cook patients

Angel Aligners are a clear aligner system: a series of custom, removable plastic trays that gradually straighten teeth. Magical Smiles Point Cook provides orthodontic consultations and Invisalign; if you're interested in Angel Aligners, ask us whether they're currently available at our clinic. Clear aligners start from $4,500 per arch. Here's how the system works, how aligner brands differ and what treatment involves.

Angel Aligners in brief

Every clear aligner system works on the same principle: a digital plan of how your teeth should move, then a series of custom trays that each move them a small step further. Angel Aligners follow that principle with their own tray material and planning software. You wear each set for most of the day, change to the next one as directed, and attend regular reviews so your dentist can check your teeth are following the plan.

Angel Aligners are one of several ways to straighten teeth, along with Invisalign, other clear aligners and fixed braces. Magical Smiles Point Cook offers Invisalign; for Angel Aligners or any other system, ask us which are currently available before you book. What matters most is how well the plan fits your teeth, not the name on the box.

Who aligners like Angel Aligners tend to suit

Aligners are often a good match for adults and older teenagers with mild to moderate crowding, small gaps or teeth that have shifted over the years, for example after a retainer was stopped long ago. They suit people who want treatment to stay low-key and who are comfortable building a daily wear habit.

They're less likely to be the first choice if your bite needs complex correction, if you already suspect a removable appliance would end up in a drawer, or if the patient is a younger child whose jaws are still developing. For children, early intervention such as Myobrace may be the better conversation to start with.

Choosing between aligner brands

Many people come in having already picked a brand. That's a perfectly good place to start, and our job is to check whether it's the right tool for your teeth. During your consultation we consider:

  • how much crowding, spacing or bite correction you need;
  • which teeth need to move, and how far;
  • whether your gums and supporting bone are healthy enough for tooth movement;
  • how confident you are about wearing a removable appliance for most of the day;
  • whether fixed braces would give more predictable control in your case.

We then recommend an approach, explain why, tell you which systems we can currently provide at Point Cook, and say plainly if a different option would serve you better. Our orthodontics overview compares every path side by side, and our sister clinic's step-by-step guide to the aligner process shows what each stage looks like.

How aligner treatment works, step by step

1. Consultation and records. We check your teeth, gums and bite and ask what you'd like to change. Aligner planning uses records such as photographs and a digital scan or impressions; ask at your consultation how yours will be taken.

2. Plan and written quote. Your records become a planned sequence of tooth movements, with an estimate of how many trays and months are involved. You'll get the fee in writing before anything is booked.

3. Wearing your trays. Each set is worn for most of the day and night and changed for the next one as we advise. Trays come out only to eat, to drink anything other than water and to clean your teeth.

4. Review visits. We see you regularly to confirm your teeth are moving as planned, and fine-tune the sequence if a correction is needed.

5. Retainer. Once treatment ends, a retainer, usually worn on a reducing schedule, helps hold your teeth in their new position.

Your first appointment

Your first visit at 220 Point Cook Road is an examination and a conversation, with no pressure to commit. We'll ask what bothers you about your smile, look closely at your teeth, gums and bite, and talk honestly about whether a removable aligner is realistic for you or whether something fixed would work better.

If aligners look like a good fit, your examination and records become the foundation of your plan, which is why they matter more than any brand comparison online. You'll leave knowing which teeth would move, roughly how long it could take and what it would cost. Prefer to ask a few questions first? Reception is on (03) 8338 1515.

Everyday life with aligners

Most people settle into aligners within a week or two. Expect a feeling of pressure for a day or so after each new tray; that's the tray doing its job. Take the trays out for meals and for any drink other than plain water, and brush before putting them back so food isn't trapped against your teeth.

  • Cleaning: rinse trays in cool water and clean them gently as we show you. Hot water can warp the plastic.
  • Storage: keep trays in their case whenever they're out. Lost trays usually go missing in a napkin or a pocket.
  • Spare set: hold on to your previous trays in case a current one is lost or cracked.
  • Wear time: aim for 20 to 22 hours a day, because trays only move teeth while they're in.
  • Poor fit: if a tray stops seating properly, don't force it or skip ahead. Call us on (03) 8338 1515.

Keeping treatment on track

Aligner treatment works best as a partnership. We plan the movements and check progress; you wear the trays and keep your review appointments. If life gets in the way, whether that's travel, illness or a lost tray, tell us early. It's usually simple to adjust the plan when we hear about a hiccup straight away, and much harder once a few weeks have passed.

What affects the cost

Clear aligners at Magical Smiles start from $4,500 per arch. Where your fee lands depends on how much movement is needed, how many trays and review visits that takes, any dental care required first and your retainer. You'll see it all in writing before you commit, and our budget calculator gives a rough idea of repayments.

Ways to pay

We accept most health funds with on-the-spot HICAPS claims, so if your extras cover includes orthodontics you can claim at the front desk. Your fund can tell you how much it pays. To spread the cost, there's Humm, Afterpay, the National Dental Plan and SuperCare for early release of superannuation, each with its own terms, limits and approval process. See our payment options for the details. Asking for a teenager? The Child Dental Benefits Schedule won't cover aligners: Services Australia's guidance, last updated on 1 January 2026, lists orthodontic dental work among the services the scheme doesn't pay for. It can still help an eligible child with basic care such as check-ups, cleaning and fillings, up to $1,158 over two calendar years (or $1,132 if their two-year period began in 2025).

General dentist or specialist orthodontist?

Dr Rachna Yadav and Dr Amolak Deep are registered general dentists at Magical Smiles Point Cook, not specialist orthodontists. Many mild to moderate alignment cases can be treated in general practice. If your case would be better managed by a specialist orthodontist, we'll tell you at your consultation and explain why. healthdirect's guide to orthodontists, last reviewed in November 2024, notes that you don't need a referral to see an orthodontist, though it can help to see your dentist first to check that your teeth and gums are healthy.

Angel Aligners: common questions from Point Cook patients

What are Angel Aligners?

Angel Aligners are a brand of clear aligner: custom, removable trays made from dental-grade plastic and planned from records of your teeth. You wear a series of trays in order, each one moving your teeth a small step. Ask our Point Cook team whether Angel Aligners are currently available at the clinic and whether they would suit your case.

Are Angel Aligners as good as Invisalign?

Both are clinically recognised clear aligner systems, and both can work well for many cases of mild to moderate crowding and spacing. They differ in tray material and in the range of cases each is typically used for, so the better choice depends on your teeth. We recommend a system after examining you.

How long does treatment with Angel Aligners take?

That depends on how far your teeth need to move and how consistently you wear the trays. We include an estimated timeframe in your written plan after your assessment, and review it as treatment progresses.

What do clear aligners like Angel Aligners cost?

At Magical Smiles, clear aligner treatment starts from $4,500 per arch. The fee for any aligner system depends on the amount of movement, the number of trays and any dental care needed beforehand. If aligners suit you, you'll receive the exact cost in writing before treatment begins.
