Full-arch implant treatment at 220 Point Cook Road

All-on-X in Point Cook: a full arch of fixed teeth.

All-on-X replaces a whole upper or lower arch of teeth with a fixed bridge held by a small number of implants, often four to six. At Magical Smiles Point Cook, All-on-X is $26,000 per arch. If a loose denture or failing teeth are wearing you down, this page explains how it works and what the alternatives are.

When dentures or failing teeth take over

Full-arch treatment is usually considered when most of an arch is missing or can't be saved. People often describe one of these:

  • Your denture slips or rubs when you talk, laugh or eat.
  • You avoid certain foods because chewing has become a chore.
  • Several teeth in one arch are failing and fixing them one at a time keeps adding up.
  • You'd like teeth that stay in, not a plate you take out each night.

The plain-English version

What is All-on-X?

All-on-X is a name for full-arch implant bridges. Instead of one implant per tooth, a small number of implants, often four (All-on-4) or six, are placed in the jaw and a complete arch of teeth is fixed onto them. The "X" simply stands for the number of implants your plan uses.

The back implants are sometimes angled to make the most of the bone that's there, which can reduce the need for grafting. The bridge stays in all the time; only your dentist removes it, for maintenance.

Two ways to anchor a full arch

Implants can hold a full arch in two ways. Both give a firmer hold than a denture resting on the gums alone; the difference is whether the teeth come out.

01 / Fixed, non-removable Model of a fixed full-arch implant bridge

Fixed full-arch bridge

This is the All-on-X option. The teeth are fixed onto the implants and stay in all the time. You clean them in place with a toothbrush, interdental brushes or a water flosser.

Stays in Often 4–6 implants per arch
02 / Removable, but firmly held A removable overdenture that clips onto dental implants

Implant-supported overdenture

A denture that clips onto two or more implants. It comes out for cleaning, but the clips help stop it rocking or slipping while you eat and talk.

Removable Often fewer implants

All-on-X is $26,000 per arch. Overdenture fees depend on the design and the number of implants, so ask about them at your consultation.

Step by step

How full-arch treatment usually unfolds

Every plan is individual, and timing depends on your mouth and how you heal. This is the general shape of it.

01

Consultation

Tell us what's bothering you now and what you'd like to change. Your dentist also reviews your health and any medications.

02

Examination

Your teeth, gums and jaw are examined, and X-rays help show how much bone is available. If it's thin, bone grafting may be discussed.

03

Your plan and fee

You'll talk through fixed and removable options, their risks and the alternatives, and can ask for a written plan with the fee.

04

Treatment

Any failing teeth are removed and the implants are placed under local anaesthetic. Your dentist explains what you'll wear while the implants heal.

05

Final teeth and reviews

Once healed, the final bridge is fitted. Regular reviews and cleans then keep watch over the implants underneath.

Bone grafting for a full arch

Where teeth have been missing or failing for years, the jaw can shrink. Angled implants sometimes avoid the need for grafting; in other cases bone is rebuilt first so the implants have firm support.

Your dentist will explain whether any area needs building up and how that changes the timeline. Read about bone grafting

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.

Upper arch only

When the sinus sits low

In the upper jaw, the sinus can sit close to where the back implants would go. Tilting those implants can sometimes work around it.

If it can't, a sinus lift adds bone height beneath the sinus before or during implant placement.

Aftercare

Keeping a full arch healthy

A full-arch bridge can't decay, but the gum and bone around each implant can still become inflamed. Plaque tends to collect under the bridge where it meets the gum, so daily cleaning underneath matters.

Regular maintenance visits let your dentist check every implant, and now and then take the bridge off for a thorough clean. Learn about peri-implantitis care →

Fees and payment

All-on-X is $26,000 per arch

That's the fee for one fixed full arch at Magical Smiles Point Cook. Treating both arches means two arch fees, and grafting or a sinus lift, if you need one, is quoted separately. Ask for a written plan that lists every item.

Before you decide

Three questions worth asking

Fixed or removable?

Ask which suits your bone, your budget and the way you'd like to clean your teeth each day.

What's included?

Ask what the $26,000 per arch covers and what, if anything, would be extra for your mouth.

What does upkeep involve?

Ask how often you'll need maintenance visits and which cleaning tools work best under the bridge.

All-on-X FAQs

All-on-X is a fixed full-arch bridge held by a small number of dental implants, often four to six per arch. The teeth stay in and are cleaned in place, rather than taken out like a denture.

Not necessarily. Angled implants can sometimes use the bone that's already there. Your dentist checks your bone at the examination and explains whether any grafting is needed.
All-on-X is fixed and stays in all the time. An implant-supported overdenture clips onto implants for a firmer hold but comes out for cleaning. Your dentist can explain which suits you.
