Bulk-billed children's dental in Point Cook.
Eligible children can have basic dental care bulk-billed at Magical Smiles Point Cook through Medicare's Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS). That means covered check-ups, cleans and treatment cost you nothing, up to $1,158 per child over two calendar years, or $1,132 if your child's two-year period began in 2025. Book at 220 Point Cook Road and we'll check your child's eligibility and remaining balance for you.
Covered services are bulk-billed for eligible children. Medicare sets eligibility, benefit limits and program terms.
Regular visits keep children's dental care simple.
Children who come in regularly usually find the dentist unremarkable, and their check-ups stay short and easy. It also means we can spot early decay, crowding or habits such as thumb-sucking while the teeth and jaw are still developing and small changes are enough.
For many families, CDBS means routine care is fully covered. The only thing left to find is an hour in the week, and our Saturday hours can help with that.
Bulk-billed care is one part of our children’s dentistry service. If it's your child’s first appointment, read how we run a first visit.
Would your child walk into a dental visit calmly today?
If the honest answer is “probably not”, these appointments are designed to help change that. Short, friendly visits with no lectures and no rushing make it easier each time.
The basic care CDBS pays for.
The Child Dental Benefits Schedule is a Medicare program for basic dental care. For an eligible child it can cover the following services, up to the benefit limit.
01Check-ups
Examinations that keep track of teeth, gums and jaw as your child grows.
02Cleans & fluoride
A professional scale and clean, with fluoride to help protect young teeth.
03X-rays
When clinically needed, to see between the teeth and below the gum line.
04Fillings
Treating small cavities early, before they have a chance to grow.
05Extractions
Removing a tooth when it genuinely needs to come out, calmly and carefully.
06Root canal & more
Other basic services, including root canal treatment. We'll confirm what applies to your child.
CDBS covers general and preventive care only. It doesn't cover orthodontics such as braces or Invisalign, cosmetic treatment, or care in hospital. We'll explain the cost of anything outside the scheme before we start. Full details are on the Services Australia website.
Is your child eligible?
It comes down to three conditions — and if you're unsure, we can check for you.
Who qualifies
- Aged 0–17 for at least one day in the calendar year.
- Eligible for Medicare.
- Your family receives a qualifying government payment, such as Family Tax Benefit Part A, for at least part of the year.
How to check
- Sign in to your Medicare online account through myGov, or use the Express Plus Medicare app.
- Both show whether your child is eligible and how much benefit is left.
- Or leave it to us — mention CDBS when you book and we'll check.
What happens at a bulk-billed visit.
Knowing what to expect takes most of the worry away — for your child and for you. Here's how a first appointment at our Point Cook clinic usually runs.
Before you come in
Mention the visit briefly the day before — “the dentist is going to count your teeth” works better than a big build-up. Bring a favourite toy if it helps. Younger children often do best with a morning appointment.
When you arrive
Reception will ask you to sign a short Medicare consent form, which bulk-billing under CDBS requires, and explain it as you go. Then we'll come and meet you both and show your child around at their own pace.
In the chair
A gentle look, a count of the teeth, a clean if your child is comfortable, and plenty of explanation along the way. Allow 30 to 45 minutes; most children need just one visit.
Before you leave
We'll tell you how everything looks and when to come back. If anything needs treatment, we'll explain it first, including whether CDBS covers it and any cost, before we do anything.
If a check-up keeps slipping down the list.
It happens to every busy family. Nothing feels urgent until something hurts. Picture next year's visit instead: would you rather be managing a worried child and a toothache, or watching a child who knows the routine and barely thinks about it? Easy early visits are what make the later ones uneventful.
This is for you if…
Your child is due or overdue for a check-up, you'd rather start gently than wait for a problem, and you want to know whether Medicare will cover it. First visits are very welcome at our Point Cook clinic.
It's probably not for you if…
You're mainly after braces, Invisalign or cosmetic treatment. CDBS doesn't cover those, but call us and we'll point you to the right service.
Medicare pays, and we bulk-bill.
per eligible child for a two-calendar-year period starting in 2026, or $1,132 if it began in 2025.
That's the Medicare benefit available for basic dental care under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule. We claim it directly for your child, so covered services leave eligible families with nothing to pay on the day. If a treatment isn't covered, or the benefit has been used up, we'll tell you the cost before going ahead.
Medicare sets the benefit limit and can change it each year. Your child's eligibility and remaining balance decide what applies, and we'll confirm it for you. Subject to program terms.
